Do I need an iPhone Duo?
No. On any iPhone, Take is a teleprompter: your script sits right under the front camera while you film yourself. On iPhone Duo you get one more thing. Open the phone, film someone with the rear camera, and they read their lines on the cover screen, facing them.
How does the cover screen work on iPhone Duo?
Open your Duo flat, open a script and tap Shoot. While the camera is running, the cover screen faces the person you are filming and shows their lines, a countdown, cue cards or a pose guide. You direct from the inner screen. Take sizes the words to how far away they are: full lines up close, short phrases further back, one cue word from across the room.
The cover screen went dark. Did I lose the take?
No. iOS decides when the cover can show, and it can switch it off, for example if the phone partly folds, a call comes in or you leave the app. Your recording keeps going. The inner screen tells you, and the script monitor gets bigger so you can read lines out. When the cover comes back it picks up on the current line.
How does voice-follow work?
Turn it on in the script's Pace setting and start reading. Take listens and moves to the next line when you finish the one you are on. If you stop or go off script, it holds still and waits. Recognition runs on your iPhone, and nothing you say leaves it. Voice-follow is part of Take Pro. Fixed speed and manual stepping are free.
How do I get a script in?
Tap New script and type, paste, or import a .txt file. Leave a blank line between beats. Take shows how long the script runs at your pace.
Where are my takes saved?
Only on your iPhone, inside Take. Open a script to see its takes. From there you can play, trim, share or save a take to Photos. Takes are included in your normal iCloud or computer backup. Deleting Take deletes them, so save anything you want to keep first.
What is free, and what does Take Pro add?
Free, with no watermark: the teleprompter, Duo director mode with the script on the cover, countdown, fixed and manual pacing, mirror, text size, up to 3 scripts, takes up to 1 minute, review, trim, share and Save to Photos. Take Pro adds voice-follow, unlimited scripts, takes longer than a minute, and cue cards and the pose guide on the cover.
How does the free trial work?
The yearly plan starts with 7 days free for new subscribers. Cancel at least a day before the week ends and you pay nothing. If you don't, the yearly price shown in the app is charged when the trial ends, and then each year until you cancel. Take Pro also comes monthly, or as a one-time lifetime purchase.
I bought Pro. How do I get it on another iPhone, or after reinstalling?
Open Settings in Take and tap Restore purchases. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with.
How do I cancel the subscription?
Apple manages subscriptions. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Take Pro. Or go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before it renews. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
Can I get a refund?
Apple handles refunds. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
